💬 FAQs:
Do I need this for all NC solar permits?
No — but you MUST provide a PE-stamped structural design if any of the following apply:
Your solar array weighs more than 3 psf
The roof has >1 layer of shingles
You’re mounting to tile or other non-shingle/metal material
The job is located in a 140+ mph wind speed area.
Is this required statewide?
Yes. Since 2019, all local building departments in NC must follow the Statewide Uniform Inspection Requirements for rooftop solar
What’s the wind zone for my property?
We use the ASCE 7-16 wind maps and site ZIP code to determine the Vult design speed. Many NC coastal counties exceed 140 mph.
Can I use this for HOA or resale documentation?
Yes — our letter meets structural documentation needs for appraisals, closings, or homeowner association submittals.
Can this be bundled with electrical permit support?
We do not provide electrical plans — but we can coordinate with your electrician if needed and reference NEC compliance items.
