At WindCalculations.com, we recently completed another successful wind load engineering project — this time supporting the structural design of elevated solar panel attachments mounted on top of vertical poles. These systems are commonly used for street lighting, pathway illumination, or off-grid infrastructure, and require precision structural design to ensure code compliance and durability in Florida’s high-wind environments.
Our scope of work included:
Certified wind load calculations based on ASCE 7-22
Design wind speed of 180 mph (Vult)
Exposure Category C in accordance with the Florida Building Code (2023, 8th Edition)
This type of elevated mounting requires careful consideration of surface area, panel geometry, and pole height to determine accurate loading conditions. Our deliverables included a sealed engineering letter, wind pressure diagrams, and attachment detail notes — helping streamline the permitting process while maintaining public safety and long-term system performance.
We specialize in site-specific wind load analysis for:
Solar arrays and elevated panel systems
Street lighting with solar integration
Signage, canopies, shade structures, and more
